• Gradually remove winter mulches
• Clean up debris in the garden
• Start vegetable and flowers from seed
• Sow seeds outdoors of hardy annuals, such as poppies and cornflowers
• Plant sweet peas and garden peas on St. Patrick's Day if soil is workable
• Fertilize trees and shrubs late in month
• Prune trees and shrubs that do not flower in spring
• Apply dormant oil such as Pest Fighter Oil late in month
• If soil is affected by salt, apply agricultural gypsum to correct damage
• Turf : Apply pre-emergent crab grass control (late in month)
• Turf: Apply grub control (late in month)
